Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to know about packet pick up?

On Friday, August 24, you can pick up your run packet between noon and 7 pm at the WCIC studios: 3902 W Baring Trace in Peoria.

Can't make it Friday? Pick up your packet on run day at W. H. Sommer Park. Just stop by the registration table between 6:30 - 7:30 am.

What's the run route?

This is an out and back run, meaning you will travel the same path to the halfway point and then turn around and come back on that same path to finish at the starting point. See Route.

Can I make changes to my registration?

You can make changes by calling WCIC toll-free at (877) 692-9242 by August 1, 2018. After this, changes will not be permitted.

Where can I take cash and check donations that I raised?

You can mail cash/check donations to the WCIC studios, 3902 W Baring Trace, Peoria, IL 61615. You can also drop them off at WCIC weekdays from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Or you can bring them to the registration table on race day. The simplest way to collect donations for WCIC from those who are supporting your 4K is to direct them to give online through your personal run page.

Where do I park?

The run is at W. H. Sommer Park: 6329 N Koerner Road, Edwards, Illinois. In Peoria, go west on War Memorial Drive (Route 150), past the Shoppes at Grand Prairie and Weaver Farms to the stop light at Koerner/Trigger Road. Turn left onto Koerner Road. Drive .8 miles, past the Chadwick and Sommer Place neighborhoods. Turn right at the W. H. Sommer Park sign. Follow the park road about a mile, and you'll be directed to a place to park near the starting line.

More direction details here.

I'm not a runner. Can I still participate?

You can run or walk the 4K. If 4K is too long for you that day, you can just walk the portion you choose to complete as a non-competitor. Walkers will start at the back.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes, we want to see your family, including those little stroller riders! Strollers will start at the back with walkers. Joggers (running strollers) may start where appropriate based on run speed.

Are pets allowed?

No, sadly, although we love pets, including them in this event gets too complicated, so please leave your dogs and other pets at home.

I want to listen to music while I run. Headphones?

Great news! WCIC's music will be playing along the run path as you walk or run!

For your safety, and the safety of all our participants, headphones are discouraged during the event so you can be more aware of your surroundings.

Is this a timed event?

Yes, this event will be timed by Shazam racing. For your most accurate time, please wear your race bib on your outermost layer of clothing, on the front. If you do not want to be timed, you do not have to wear your bib.

How is the starting line organized?

Experienced runners start at the front. Slower runners start in the middle. Walkers and strollers will start at the back. If you have a running stroller, move towards the front as appropriate once the run starts.

Uh oh! I changed my mind. Can I exchange my shirt for a different size?

We will order shirts prior to race day so if you catch us before August 1, 2018, you can call WCIC to request a size change. After that date, your shirt has already been ordered specifically for you, and the size cannot be changed.

Call WCIC toll free at (877) 692-9242 for changes, more info, etc.

Oh man. Something came up. I still want my shirt, but I can't run. Now what?

Bummer. Your shirt will be available at the station on the day before the run. You can also pick it up at the station during regular business hours after the run.

I'm injured and/or can’t run in the race; can I get a refund?

All registration fees are a non-refundable donation to the ministry of WCIC.

We live in the Midwest. What if it snows? In August.

The event will take place rain or shine. In the unlikely event of severe weather, please check WCIC's Facebook page for run updates that morning.

We will take precautions as recommended by the National Weather Service, but only in extreme cases will the event be cancelled. Your safety is our number one priority--your fun is our close second.
